Cows Hill - 2011

Abounding with buckwheat and some of the other wild flowers flowers seen in 2010 (though everything is very late in their bloom) the area is again home to our bees - here you can see Klaus on 'duty check' to see how the honey incoming looks - whether there is any, how the bees are producing brood, the stability of the hive colony itself. We have found one hive, in particular, rather 'hostile' - we make a note so as not to start with that hive but rather end the day with it. Africanized bees come and go so one never quite knows what to expect in California hence suits, gloves, boots, duck tape are mandatory.
