first photo (left photo) This is YEAR TWO after the Fires of 2009 - The first year 2010 was sparse of flowers and yet yielded a bountiful honey flow - dark and rich with a hint of spice perhaps. This second year has produced some of the same flowers - the Fireweed, Red Bugle and many others, but a new flower appeared - one not seen here before, ever - The Wooly Blue Curl, along with the ever present DeerWeed, White Patsy, Mallow.... But it is the Wooly Blue Curl - the flower has a sticky stem and leaves shaped somewhat like the dandelion with an unfurling flower that curls open rather like a fiddle fern. It is this flower that has had an affect on the honey - visually it is white water - some jump to thoughts of White Sage but there was no sage anywhere, not even Thistle Sage. The taste is smooth, sweet and clean. Visually the comb is white and almost clear. Not for at least 28+ years have we seen this colour honey up at this site. Very exciting indeed!
